Stevenage and North Hertfordshire
Child Contact Centre

About Us

Families generally use the Child Contact Centre for between three and six months, until relationships have improved, confidence levels have risen and anxiety levels fall.  As we often have a waiting list, we do try to move the contact on, however all cases are considered on an individual basis.

All volunteers are checked by the Disclosure and Barring Services prior to starting work at the Centre. You can see our opening days and times on our calendar page.

Contact Centres may provide differing levels of support during contact. We offer ‘supported’ contact only, not ‘supervised’. This means that our volunteers are available for assistance but there is no close observation, monitoring or evaluation of individual contacts.

Adult relationships can remain difficult after parents separate. Yet many children want, and need, to maintain a relationship with both parents and other relatives who are important to them.

Not all separated parents find it easy to achieve this. Trust may have broken down. Communications may have become difficult. If so, it may seem almost impossible to make arrangements for a child to spend quality time with the parent or relative they no longer live with.

This is where we can help

We won’t take sides. We simply aim to help you do what is in the best interests of your child.

Opening Times

Our Centres are open on the 1st and 3rd Saturday of each month throughout the year, from 9:30am to 1:30pm.  Times and frequency of your contact will be discussed at the pre-contact visit.  The details will be confirmed by the Contact Centre Coordinator. Please see our Opening Times page. We operate from two centres, one in Stevenage and one in Letchworth. Details can be found on our find us page.

We are accredited by the National Association of Child Contact Centres (NACCC) and manage two centres: Stevenage (NACCC reg no: 093/3) and Letchworth (NACCC reg no: 1315/3).  There are over 300 centres within the national body in the UK.
